“We repeat what we don’t repair” - author unknown

We are wired for connection. What we feel and believe at a gut level is in large part because of connections made in our brains and bodies through relational experiences. Our attachments are vital to how we learn and are soothed, feel safe and explore, and grow and change throughout our lives. This is also why many of the wounds we try to heal were often formed in earlier relationships. Recognizing that the past is actually present in every moment of our lives can help us move through these roadblocks into a flourishing future. Although difficult to believe healing truths- like that we are worthy of love and belonging exactly as we are- once these sink in, the path to healing and recovery can begin.

A therapeutic relationship provides all the elements of intimacy: honest communication, vulnerability and trust. Many of us struggle to execute these fundamentals. Entering into a therapeutic partnership can help increase our ability to skillfully speak and know our truth.

In addition to relational trauma training, I have been trained in ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy). ART is an evidence–based psychotherapy that fosters rapid recovery by reprogramming how the brain stores traumatic memories and imagery. Many of my clients report dramatic relief after only 1 ART session.

My experience also includes being intensively trained by Marsha Linehan and Behavioral Tech staff in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In this skill-based model I have seen the benefit of teaching clients strategies such as emotion regulation and distress tolerance to better their relationships with others and with themselves.

I see teens, adults and families in my practice, as well as friends and families who have a loved one struggling with mental illness. Currently I offer classes on Building Better Boundaries that are affordable for all.
